Attended The HP Mini Bloggers Meet

| December 13, 2009 | 2 Comments

I just came back from the HP Bloggers Meet up for the launch of HP Mini. Although I have got invitations to attend several bloggers meeting events previously, but to be honest, this was the first one that I attended. It was a decent gathering, with quite a few bloggers from various fields who showed up.

It was a pleasure to meet Mr Khalid Muhammad, whom I met for the first time. He was the organizer and was very kind to help everyone around, accept criticism and negative feedback from the blogging community. I have previously written about brand blogging, and in my opinion this is a great idea to spread the news in the blogosphere.

There are 3 versions of HP Mini netbook that are launched in Pakistan, but HP Mini 110 is a basic machine and was the major part of the discussion. It carries and Intel Atom Processor, 1GB Ram and 160 GB Hard Disk. But the whole question was how is it different as compared to other alternatives available? The following were some differences that may help you to get a HP mini as compared to any other netbook:

  • It has a dual boot option. You can load multiple OS.
  • HP has provided an instant user interface when you turn on the HP Mini. The user interface allows you to use chat clients and other options with internet connectivity without even loading Windows.
  • Design

During the discussion, the topic diverted towards HP Mini 311 which is a better version because it carries a NVDIA graphics card, but this version is not yet launched in Pakistan as yet.

All in all in my opinion, if you need portability and you are someone who needs the internet on the go … netbooks offer you a good solution!

A decent attempt to get along with the blogging community by HP. I would rate it a 3.5 on 5 …

These are also on display at the Forum. The configuration that you mentioned is the standard Netbook configuration available. I just ordered a Toshiba Netbook which I got for around $400 on Sale which has has higher specs like 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD and a ATI Raedon card. I hope such options become available in the local market at affordable prices.

I was expecting you at the event Omar.. How much did u got the Toshiba for.. the specs sound excellent .. have u used it yet? .. Well the whole discussion was about what the market needs.. and I guess the market is pretty ready to get the high fully loaded netbooks into this market rather than a basic machine ..
