Karachi Fashion Week – 2010

I visited the 2nd day of Karachi Fashion Week 2010 yesterday at the Pearl Continental Hotel. The event was hyped up with glamour as expected with noticeable media personalities and models roaming around in the lounge area before the show. The part that killed my excitement level was the LONG waiting time, as being a punctual person I reached the venue at 7:30 pm for a show that had to start at 4:30 pm, but it never started till 9:30 pm. But that’s normal in all media shows, so I should have been prepared for that. But as far as I got to see the rehearsals, I have no complains.. =P
However, Nadia Hussain and Iraj Manzoor were a few of the well known models that walked on the ramp last night. There were foreign models as well from Malaysia yesterday that walked on the ramp for “Teen Dabba’s” new collection. People always tell me I become tool over critical about things but this is something that I am going to write and then you tell me if I am wrong or right. It was the first proper ramp based fashion show that I attended, and at first glance of watching the models walking on the ramp I figured it out that they “SHOULD” walk according to the beat of the music, in other words what we would call the “Metronome” or in simpler terms, the “Tempo.” Their foot steps should sync with the music being played. But apart from “Iraj Manzoor” all the local models seemed to walk in their own thoughts majority of the times, slower than the music. I mean it seriously looked weird and since I couldn’t digest it, I had to write this even if it was related to my post or not. If you dont understand what I am trying to say, check out this “SLEEP WALKING MODEL” in black sherwani and you’ll know exactly what I mean:
All in all, it was a decent show. Check out the videos & pictures below. That’s the best I could have done with a Nokia E63.
