Pakistan’s Pioneer Filmmaking Academy

The South Asian Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Television (SAAMPT) is Pakistan’s pioneer academy providing comprehensive and extensive hands on training in the diverse fields of media arts and sciences.

SAAMPT currently offers one year programs in Digital and Documentary Filmmaking, and two year advanced programs in Directing for Camera, and Cinematography.

SAAMPT also offers short courses in Broadcast Journalism, Black & White Photography and Film Appreciation.

SAAMPT is fully equipped with state-of-the-art modern facilities required to complement its curriculum. The facilities include a 60’x30’ Television studio and master control room with Digidesign Pro Tools HD workstation (Apple Mac Pro computers); Panasonic MX 70 Digital Audio switcher; Sony digital video cameras D 55’s OB with top monitors, tripod, dolly and Zoom; Sony DSR 1800P with SDI Card; Light grid system 35 x 1000 W sealing lights; 12 x 650 W Fresnel sealing lights; 20 x 1000 W floor lights with stands.

The 80’x70’ Film Studio is equipped with a Multi-purpose hall, Directors workshop and Acting rehearsal hall.

Film Cage contains 55 x 1000 W (1K) Lights, 24 x 650 W Fresnel Lights with stands, 2 K Baby Lights, HMI Lights, 10 C –Stands 5 Boom Stands, Flags and Cutters, Straight and Curved Tracks, Dolly, 10 Sieniessers mics, 10 cordless mics, Marantz PMD 660 Field Recording Equipment, Light meters, and Sekonic Incident and Reflected Light meters.

The Video Edit Lab consists of Final Cut Pro HD on Apple iMac G5 computers, and Intel Core 2 Quad with 4 processing cores with NVIDIA GeoForce 2 Graphic Card.

Students work with and operate Bolex H16 RX5, Arriflex IIC, 16SR, ARRI 435, HD and D 55’s camera and accessories in advanced courses.
