Elements That Help To Generate The Viral Impact

We have all been watching and consuming video content on the web since our bandwidths increased through DSL and other options. Because of the social sphere nowadays, all of us have the ability to share such videos with our friends and family through social networks that we are a part of.

This is an opportunity that has erupted as a new possibility for brands and companies to cost effectively reach a large number of audience. But it also brings a difficult task along with it, and that is to come up with a concept and make an effective video that gets the viral effect without much effort. Now the question is, why do people share these videos? What are the elements that make people want to share your viral content?

After going through various videos on Youtube and other video sites and the following are the elements that I came up with. Do bear in mind that this is not an exhaustive list, instead the list depicts the most commonly found attributes that viral videos are likely to have.

Cool Factor

The ‘cool’ factor is one of the most prominent elements of viral videos these days. If a video is really cool, it is going to get shared like anything. This also carries and aspirational value where the viewers really get excited and overwhelmed by the video content.

Emotional

An emotional video touches the heart. So if a video is sad or happy or about love, people are going to share it because they can relate to it.

Funny

If you are going to make people laugh, they are definitely going to share this video. Its difficult to make people laugh and a funny video can lead to an effective viral effect. This is why a lot of companies globally have started to make funny videos or commercials.

Cuteness

People like cute things. Whether its a baby, or a cat or even a cute girl people will like to share it. No wonder videos like “Charlie Bit My Finger” have made it big on the web with more than 100 million views by now. This in broader terms falls under the “Emotional Category.”

Violence

This one is again and emotional element. People hate violence, so if a video triggers emotional sympathy through a viral video, it is going to get viral.

Patriotism

Patriotic Videos are also a part of an emotional appeal within a viral video. If the content ignites the patriotic aura, there are chances that the video is going to get viral.
