Ufone Spampaign: Spamming The Pakistani Blogosphere!

| March 15, 2010 | 6 Comments

I don’t know what is wrong with the Telecom Sector in Pakistan? In order to try and get hold of social media, they have been trying everything possible left, right and centre! Although, some of them have been trying their best to understand the mechanics of social media, the rest continue to be shameless to reach out to the audiences. Even if they have to spam everyone to reach their objectives. This is an extremely shameful act by such big companies.

After the Wateen Spampaign was blown up by the bloggers in Pakistan, it seems that either Ufone never learnt a lesson out of that or they are were never connected to the blogosphere enough to even find out what the story was all about. I would have loved to discuss the Wateen Spampaign here, but I don’t want to drag this article too much, and would rather jump to the current Ufone Spampaign.

Check out the multiple images of the Ufone Spampaign being spammed by some so called social media idiots who don’t even know what the medium is all about. It blew my mind away when I saw this comment on one of my previous Ufone posts here on PakMediaBlog. The comments link back to the UConnect webpage on the Ufone website.

The spammers have been a little intelligent this time as they only pasted the comments on the blog posts that had the keywords Ufone in it. The following are a few links that these spam comments can be found on:

Is this what social media means to you? I mean for God’s sake, grow up guys! If you don’t know how to do things right, or don’t pick up a social media project if you don’t have the expertise on. Get mature and try and understand the medium and the domain that you are trying to enter, because if you don’t do that… there is a big chance that the brand’s reputation gets screwed!

I think its about time all telecom companies in Pakistan hired DimenXions to handle all their social media activities :-)

You are right, Sarosh. I ignored it twice last week. But today again saw the same spam comment and have spammed it.

Interesting is that they are all about Uconnect. This shows that they have become desperate to get the service into use.

Though this guy is consistently trying – we never allowed him :D

@Babar: The problem is that companies don’t want to understand how social media operates.. instead they want to replicate their traditional methods online as well.. which is sick!

@Arsalan: Thanks for visiting PMB Arsalan =). That’s my point .. this shows desperation, or probably they have hired an agency who are boasting they can do social media… which is stupid!

@Aamir: Its great to have your comment on PMB =) .. Yes.. the problem is.. the guy or the company would continue to do so .. as they will not read this post. Majority of these social media idiots only boast of doing things and they don’t even read what’s written on the blogs.

All in all, I feel that these guys will continue to do it.. until they damage the company reputation at large on social media. LOL

Hey, same is here. I am very much annoyed by continuous spamming by Ufone. I just wanna know, is there any thing to unsubscribe it :D . Are these types of messages also a part of other telecommunication companies and their promotional messages or its only me living in hell
