Pakistani brands take over Twitter during #PakvsInd

Cricket is a very close to heart sport for us Pakistanis. It has the power to connect the entire nation together. As the cricket fever rises, Pakistani brands initiated hashtags to connect and engage with their younger audience through social media celebrating cricket, gradually taking over the entire twitterverse during #PakvsInd match.


Coca-Cola Pakistan, under the banner of Coke Studio, launched the 1992 world cup song with various artists including Javed Miandad, Strings, Atif Aslam, Aamina Sheikh, Adnan Malik, Jimmy Khan etc.

Calling it the national anthem for worldcup, the song was promoted through the hashtag #GameUthaDain. Followers on twitter tweeted interesting posts using the hashtag.


Similarly, Peek Freans Sooper, the number one selling biscuit brand of Pakistan, initiated a promotion for cricket fanatics across the country giving them a chance to win a trip to Australia. The promotion started off on February 07 and will end on March 07, 2015. The  promotion engages consumers by messaging different codes on Sooper packs to 8398 for an interactive session of question/answers related to the game. The most active participants would qualify for a lucky draw. The big prize is the cash equivalent of airfares to Australia for 10 winners. Furthermore, runner-up prizes will also be given out to 500 lucky winners which will include smartphones, branded cricket gear and kit.

The campaign is called ‘Sooper Hai Cricket’ and the hashtag #SooperHaiCricket was actively seen on twitter.



Jubilee Life Insurance took Wasim Akram on board as the face of its ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 digital campaign that kicked off over the weekend and was one of the top trending topics in Pakistan with the hashtag #WeWillBringItBack.


Well, this doesn’t end here. Pepsi’s #LiveItAbhi and #PepsiCricket, Djuice’s #ShorMacha and Olpers Lassi’s #KhulKeKhelo were some other branded hashtags that were seen being used by fans on twitter. Cricket, not only united the nation, but all the brands too talking about this nation’s one true love and its obsession with Pakistan vs. India match, creating a really patriotic atmosphere throughout the day on twitter.
