Many people from the agency side when they start off their career, they start off as a client service executive. What are the roles and responsibilities of a client executive in your opinion? Is it just to follow and satisfy the client needs or is it to guide them when they talk about break bumpers, scrolls, etc. and have outrageous deadlines for the agency? What is your perspective and what do you think is the need and demand from both the agency and the client.

I know many would think probably this is not an important topic to talk about, but for those who want to go in the client servicing area of the agency, they should have a clear understanding of how things are. Not every agency will give you the liberty to work on your own and make decisions. And as far as the creative inputs are concerned, creative heads will always have the last say even though the client service executives stay  in contact with the client more than the creative department.

Do you think the input of client service executives has any importance or is their role is of just a glorified message handler? Awaiting your responses.

Principally, people who represent the agencies from the client service department are very much the brand custodians and are equally responsible for owning the brands. Thus, it is imperative for them to express their opinions…good or bad…the opinion should be in the interest of the brand and should be communicated.

Whether the clients accept them or reject them is their prerogative.

Being in the service industry we can’t forget that in the end it is the clients that make the final decisions ultimately. And that’s how the cycle goes on.
