Boycott on Facebook and Social Media

This is a response to the tremendous parties of idiots I had to tolerate before and during the ban “for a cause”.

Readers who can’t handle the truth (or an opinion backed by facts) need to close this page. Others may continue.

Ban Supporter Says: We are doing this b/c it is Islamic, it is what the Prophet would have done

Response: The greatest man who ever walked the planet – Prophet Muhammed PBUH – was all about peace and tolerance. Read up on it. I freaking dare you. Kafirs threw bloody garbage on him but he STILL went to visit them upon falling ill. Who does that anymore? WHO!?!?

This act goes in the top ten list (a highly saturated list indeed) of the most stupid decisions taken by so called Muslims in Pakistan and the government.

Reports flow in that 2 Billion Euros worth of revenue wil be lost by this ban. How the heck is that possible when FB’s annual revenue is 1.1 billion dollars?

Are we so self centered that we think we can change the world. Wake up. Why dont people protest and band together to help homeless people off the streets? Never seen one? Drive by Shah Ghazi Mazaar sometimes if you could spare a few minutes from your meaningless life of hypocrisy.

The so called activists of so called “ religious parties” have done some nerve. Years go by with inappropriate and explicit adult entertainment sites and they are okay with that – they dont raise a single voice against it (b/c quite frankly, they create the most traffic for it), and yet these uneducated morons deem Facebook and YouTube anti Islamic.

Wow, how convenient. Stupidity and Retardism, ladies and gentlemen, is the most practiced religion in Pakistan.

You want to place a blow on the West – the country that hunts and kil ours brothers and sisters in Afghanistan & Iraq? Completely and forever ban imported products.

But you wont do that, no … its too hard to give up a lifestyle; its easier to just block a harmless networking site b/c being disciples of Stupidity and Retardism … being lazy is a prerequisite.

Have a Good day being utterly and completely useless

Foreign Witness Asks: Is there an upside to the ban?

Response: Sure, taking away a medium that kills boredom is perfect for a burger who really has been hoping to act like the masses. Now he/she can work towards really Deserving that green passport by having more children that their income allows them to, never finding about all the cultural rape, torture, corruption taking place minute to minute and really master the art of speaking before listening.

It was the Final Prophets way to practice tolerance but hey – in the a country where being a banker a.k.a. dealing in interest – is something respectable, who am I to bring up the timeless teachings from the greatest man who ever lived to the worst society to ever walk the planet?

Now I get to be real desi by creating hateful solutions to simple problems and promoting the group with my reaction. Yes sir, I am surely becoming a true Pakistani. Sorry Jinnah sahib but this nation loves giving your life’s sacrifice the middle finger when ever the opportunity presents itself.

I can also practice hypocrisy by ignoring the 48 wine shops in my area, b/c hey, MNA’s work so darn hard, they really could use the break right?

Ban Victim Asks: Why are they burning tires and destroying public property?

Response: The reason Paki’s are:

1. Burning Tires & Destroying Property
2. Banning Facebook and most social media
3. Continuing the crusade of counter productive behavior

is because their most followed religion “Over the Top Stupidity and Retardism” tells them too.

It is the same religion that told them to stop helping our fellow countrymen and women in the north simply b/c its not the “in” thing to do …. the one that praises a culture of blame … the one that treats women like show pieces … the one that empathizes with no one.

It is the same religion that tells them to momentarily ban Israeli products whenever the media chooses to show horrifying images of Gaza … and then they go back to their bubbles.

It is the same religion that told them its okay to go out and destroy the property and families of others when things don’t go your way.

It is the religion that forces them to forget the severity of the sin behind having any direct link with interest rates … for they laugh off the hadith of the Prophet they pretend to revere and create their own interpretations of his clear message.

It is the religion they believe is so pure and so true that they will never abandon it, willingly spread it across the cosmos.

The list goes on …

Once again the world laughs at the overwhelming stupidity displayed by our citizens. I hope none of these morons end up working at PR Firms. Or you know … replacing the current regime.

I’m glad someone told it like it is. You forgot the minority angle. What exactly did we do wrong to also be caught in this ban or do I now have to apply for a license to access Facebook?

  • http://zainad.blogspot.com Zaira Rahman

Finally I see somebody who is looking at all this in a different way.

Guys, agreed that the entire act was quite low on their part and they have their own vicious ways of pinching Muslims because they know they can get the kick out of them.

It is simple one should give due respect to all religions but definitely everybody in the world doesn’t think this way and thus we have such disrespectful and demeaning acts. Nevertheless, the woman who started the thing did apologize for hurting sentiments and said she had nothing to do with the facebook page.

Also, facebook is just another social site where people talk, have fun, share so much fun and serious stuff. Even if Pakistanis are not allowed to access it the losses are minimal because apparently around 27-28 million people play games on facebook and one can just imagine the amount of revenue facebook would be earning just through this area. So, even if we don’t go for a few days, we are just acting like an ostrich.

Besides this, I strongly believe that had we the access of facebook and other websites we would have put up a far stronger protest. But now we were not allowed to do that. One must fight in an educated manner and not an ignorant way.

It makes no sense now why youtube, wikipedia, twitter etc are all banned. A lot of professional work is hampered due to this as well.

Sadly, most Pakistanis look at it only emotionally and would only hate us for expressing ourselves here.

And those who wanted to be on fb have found other ways to go there anyway. The real power is when people have the access to things and still they choose what they believe in rather than being forced to do stuff just because of myopic thought processes.

This is the limit. Then again you could say, someone was quick to turn the situation in to a business opportunity.

I am agreeing with Mr. Javed that one should not justify the terrible things they do by using religion.

As I recall, the act of banning was imposed on the muslims in the messengers era and not the other way around.

With this in mind, is it possible that the boycotters of today have been lured to participate in a pagan ritual?

It would not be 1st time for such an atrocity.

If you wrote a book accounting the great and abysmal decisions taken my our people, you would find one side heavier than the others.

I think when we as emotional people are forced to keep quiet, we protest for freedom of speech but when it is not in our favor we ban it.

All in all, we want the right and the power, so long as its not to be used against us.

Cowardice is part of the religion stated?

  • http://www.linkedin.com/in/babarjaved Babar Javed

@Farhad, Zaira & Fahad: just speaking from the heart.

I’m glad PMB has enlightened readers

about your final sentence Fahad yes cowardice is part of it

  • http://www.directsolutionspk.com Arsalan H Shah

@fahad: yes its about time to see it as a business opportunity heres my way of approaching it…

    Condemnation Note
It has become a mad fashion to associate the term “Islam” with terrorist or terrorism. But now, what the world is ready to call launchers of shameful blasphemous act of drawing caricatures of Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)? Mocking others’ religions and their beliefs is no less than an act of “Sophisticated Terrorism”.
We strongly condemn, blasphemous caricature competition held at Facebook and, that every other act, which can possibly become the cause of spewing hatred and inciting violence.
As a protest i have quit fb and orkut and migrated to this new network that serves my purpose of staying connected with my friends http://www.faithfulbillion.com at the same time not playing with sentiments and religious beliefs of people…

LMAO. You will never change will you?

Not relevant to the intended content on PMB and a big divergence from the impressive flow of articles you had before this, but entertaining nevertheless.

    expect death threats soon.

Thanks for your kind suggestions Adnan .. but I’d rather keep the right of suggesting what is relevant for PMB and what is not..

“Once again the world laughs at the overwhelming stupidity displayed by our citizens”

I have not laughed so hard since “Don’t waste the time” video

Please Please post more funny posts, this site is usually very boring

  • http://www.argus.com.pk Ben Lawrence

I lol’d. Where is part two? you are a Bamf

  • Faisal

I disagree with you. Everything is FACEBOOK’S fault and just because u dont see it doesn’t mean its not true.

You speak of violence… FACEBOOK is the reason why we have pakistani terrorists attacking our own people. (how do you expect a FACEBOOK group like ‘i love al qaeda – the pakistan chapter’ to have pictures if there aren’t any attacks?? huh?)

U speak of the homeless… FACEBOOK is the reason why no one cares about the homeless!!(what do you think people are accessing on their blackberrys while they’re driving past the homeless?)

u wanna know the truth Mr. Javed? YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!………………but just in case u can.. FACEBOOK is evil! PURE EVIL!! ok? u got that mr. article writer man??

now stop wasting my time by asking me to read BS.. i haf to update my facebook status and check out this funny video you posted of some woman singing a song! i think she wants something..

  • Ben Lawrence

Well then Mr. Faisal what exactly are you doing to better the situation in Pakistan? Are you like Nadeem Paracha, all talk and no show?
Or like Mr. Asim Fayyaz, no talk all results?

The choice is yours. Be remembered forever or be forgotten in a day.

    How productive were you today?
How many people did you help without expecting anything in return?
How often do you feed homeless people at random?

last month I saw workers from Mr. Baburs NGO buying and giving away warm meals and cold bottled water to our local street cleaners. My eyes were filled with more tears of joy than that of the children.

I tried to donate some money to Mr. Baburs cause through those workers but they refused it flat out.

I understand now after re reading your above comment that perhaps you and Mr. babur are friends, but I find it very disheartening when people are cruel to the few good souls we have in our country.

he does not advertise is good deeds and that is rare in this time of supposed kindness.

no company with a powerful impactful CSR project should feel the need to advertise it. They should just have results. I believe that will make all the difference.

  • Zahra Baray

An interesting thread to read.. i wonder why those who oppose facebook to such extremes are still on it…:S:S
I mean if we are extremely against it and abhor it..why still join it? And why still be a member? they should simply close their accounts! Now this can’t be that difficult.
What is that urdu proverb: “Jis thalee main khatay hain ussee thalee main ched kertay hain”

  • Abbas Qureshi

Confused yet a nice opnion.. I’d like to ask Faisal why if FB is so evil than why are you updating ur profile… Also i’d like both of you to understand that we should take advantage of this Social Media and help grow the cause.. Fight fire with fire ppl..
    Ciao :P

  • http://www.linkedin.com/in/babarjaved Babar Javed

So you’re saying that choosing to disagree with stupid behavior is a bad idea?
In that case, you must be a Zardari supporter.

my arguments on TFB were prior to the ban taking place in full swing, and if you notice, 90% of my views have been used by Tribune writers as their own.

  • http://www.linkedin.com/in/babarjaved Babar Javed

@Abbas Qureshi: I appreciate you backing me up but have to disagree with your tactics. If the fire dept’s the WORLD over DON’T fight fire With fire, then why should we?

It’s like saying you’re waging WAR for Peace. an Oxymoron
