Why IBA and CBM are Karachi’s best business schools
When studying at a business school, we wonder how some are better than our own. We hear from our teachers and seniors about how the alumni come back and make all the difference. More than the knowledge gained, networking matters the most. As a whole, graduates from IBA and CBM return to their colleges and go out of their ways to make students and fresh graduates achieve their dreams and aspirations.
On the whole, graduates from schools such as KASBIT, Preston, BIZTEK, Iqra, Griffith, SZABIST and KU find that their alumni are indifferent towards possibly granting leeway for their juniors, where they entrepreneurs or job seekers, the recent generation being more of the former.
It is noted that the graduates sitting in upper positions do not take the risks of allowing fresh graduates to secure contracts or gain entrance in their firms. The reasons are unknown, though cowardice is a possible factor; for it is cowardice in taking risks that prevents progress and improvements, leaving the executives wrapped in a bubble of what is and what is not possible.
Not the case with IBA and CBM fresh graduates, who are accepted by their seniors and assisted in more cases than their counterpart institutions.
Unless you come from a wealthy family (and do not need the help of anyone after graduation) or are well connected, you are at an extreme disadvantage being a student from anywhere but IBA or CBM. It is rare that the graduates or teachers from the 3rd tier schools assist their juniors and students, one such rare case is Faisal Shiekh – Professor of Advertising at SZABIST and BIZTEK – who has taken a rare initiative by employing his former students on his team at Brainchild Communications. He is considered to be the smartest and best teacher by the Co-Chairs of One Rupee Project and various rising stars he has taught or mentored throughout their BBA or MBA.
But this is just one example, and there should be more. If you have some, do mention it below … I doubt there will be more than 5 mentions of similar stories of bravery in the workplace.

On an added note, if the person teaching you claims to be an expert at brand management (basically what every 3rd tier professor does), then how is it that they haven’t been able to improve the brand image of their institution of choice? Something to think about.
