Online Marketing Fueled by Octave Interactive in Pakistan

As marketers when we talk about trying out new mediums, we all look forward to finding an agency for us which can get the job done efficiently and effectively. And although most of us have been using the internet for almost about a decade now, we either tend to miss out the opportunity of advertising on the medium by using the budgets on a conventional medium or we don’t know who to contact when it comes to online marketing. As a result, we drop the idea of of trying out the online marketing idea and think of trying it the next time we launch a campaign to avoid the hassle.
Octave Interactive has been one company that I am aware of and have gotten a chance to work with during my time at GroupM, and for me it would be wise to say that these guys have been doing a great job in terms of convincing people to try online marketing for their campaigns. Since we know that it has been difficult to convince the Pakistani marketers to try the online medium, but with consistency, Octave is one such company out there which strives to get more brands on board and make them taste the online medium.
As a company they have got some great brands on board and have been famous for driving the growth of online business in Pakistan to a good level, making the way for other people to get into this business. The following ad by Octave Interactive was published in the Synergizer and Aurora as to my knowledge in the current issues, which simply shows the awareness that they are trying to create with a simple message of who they are and what they do. Octave Interactive is an Interactive Marketing Agency which provides online marketing solutions for brands by using the internet to full potential by offering interactivity and engagement with the consumers that the brands of today are looking for. I guess print ads for agency advertising is a good way to create awareness in the niche of marketers which helps to keep the recall of the agency/brand alive’ and the focus on Aurora and Synergizer simply shows the carved out strategy of targeting and focusing on the marketers and advertisers only.

It is yet to be seen that as marketers do we really go on the wild ride of complete marketing solutions that the Internet offers us, but I guess the time is not far away as more internet savy brand teams and agency people are coming up on responsible positions.
Personally I am too PRO internet for the urban youth audiences, but anyone has a right to disagree on this.

I remember that it was by far one of the most interesting, informative learning sessions that we had at Group M in the time that I had worked there, when people from Octave came to tell how the online advertising is done. Everybody got to know about the potential of this medium after that session.
Indeed! Even I got to know about this company and have personally met them and I must say that their work is really commendable.
This was about two to three years back when the advent of internet marketing took place in our country (correct me if I am wrong). And ever since the people belonging to internet marketing companies have been trying to convince the clients to advertise online.
Out of all the players, Ocatve Interactive no doubt stand out from the rest in terms of client base, creating awareness and as well as revenue turnover. This is due to the visionary approach and the dynamisim they have in their bloods. Simply beating the competition outright.
I hope that they continue to strive like this, because the next thing in would be Internet Marketing.
This is by far the most successful medium in the world today. As you know people around the world are using the internet. It is the best source of communication. As far as Octave Interactive is concerned my perspective towards this online agency is that it is standing even at a good position now, As you know many companies lack to invest money in the economical and political status throughout the world today. Due to recession many companies/agencies have faced a downfall but as my personal observation Octave is one out of a million agencies standing in a great position throughout Pakistan today. I wish the people of this company and solute them for their hard work and devotion.
Times have changed with the advent of Eyeblaster and others traditional banner placement etc will lose a large part of business.
Personally I favour rich media for its permission based- less intrusive approach. However bandwith issues hamper effective use of it in our market.
If marketers think online banners are digital marketing they are sadly mistaken. No digital is not even placing banner ads on facebook either!
We have not yet used web 2.0 to its potential here.

Some marketers however, are now educated enough to realize there is a world outside banners and facebook applications. In fact, they demand innovative out of the box ideas and interactive experiences and are quite choosy, which is why some great ideas are never executed.
Yes, but many clients are pretty ok with banners on facebook, yahoo, cric info and msn. You send them a lovely ppt with jpegs and life is all good. But of course it is the responsibility of media agencies that they are shown amazing stuff that could be explored on this medium because no doubt digital is in itself a 360 degree medium.
Digital media is well and truly the way forward for Pakistan. Ofcourse, one major reason it hasn’t picked up as quickly in Pakistan is the current internet penetration which inevitably forces one to classify it as niche media. Having strategized and executed a 360 digital media campaign myself, I can relate to the comments here regarding how there is much more to digital media than placing banners on websites. Engagement is key and that is the way I expect the market to go. It’s much more cost-effective and targeted than the mass media favoured currently.
Tyrone, agreed re: rich media.
