UBL – Life ki tanki full!

UBL recently launched yet another credit card to add to their already large portfolio providing customers with another easy way to spend and get rewarded.

UBL launched a campaign to promote their card,  they had the added advantage of having PSO as a strategic partner with a countrywide reach and high visibility through their petrol station network. UBL employed both print and electronic media to promote their campaign aggressively throughout Pakistan. In print they went with all major newspapers in all major stations namely, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan etc. For their electronic media they had radio spots, TV commercials and Facebook as their mediums.

Outdoor media was not used in the promotion of this campaign as they already had their own branch network and PSO’s petrol station network. The campaign was launched in two phases, after the print ad’s went live, UBL started getting conversions for their cards and a few months later, they launched it with all the radio spots and TV commercial. However, with the large amount of budgets that UBL has access to along with PSO as a strategic partner, the visibility and the scope of the campaign failed to impress me.

Having personally worked on the campaign and spending many sleepless night, checking, double and then triple checking the flyers, brochures, station branding visuals etc. I was expecting it to be more visible than it was. I happened to have a PSO station right next to my house and I cross it everyday,  I just saw loose hanging panaflex and the station staff wearing the UBL PSO Auto Card t-shirt just a few times. The monolith did not have any branding, neither did the fuel dispensers which were all part of the campaign.

However, I may have missed these, I would like to know if anyone else had seen the TV commercials, listened to the radio spots and seen the branding at PSO and UBL outlets and what your views are on the campaign. Was it visible enough to get the desired effect?
